Learn about the OpenID standard
OpenID is a free identity service, which allows Internet users to log on to different web sites using a single digital ID, eliminating the need for a different user name and password for each web site. It is a decentralized open standard that lets users control the amount of personal information they provide to 3rd parties.
This is a list with all the public OpenID providers. I personally use VeriSign’s Personal Identity Provider as being one of the most trustworthy and reliable options. You can contribute and spread the word in your community about the OpenID through its foundation. Alternatively, you can run your own OpenID Identity Server on a dedicated or shared server.
This weblog is using WP-OpenID plugin for account registration, authentication and commenting.
